Manufactured in northern Portugal, each Branca piece is created by combining the handcrafting skills of a select group of wood production experts with the latest digital production tools.
As a Design Editor, Branca values working with local producers that share its love for detail and expertise.
The brand is based in Lisbon, inspired by the flair of the Atlantic ocean and brighten by the everlasting local white light.
ART DIRECTION
Marco Sousa Santos is a Designer based in Lisbon who has been working in several areas of Design. Since 1995, as founder and director of Proto design and Experimenta Design, he has created several Design projects and collections with national and foreign authors, contributing to the new “Vision” on Design culture in Portugal. As a Designer, Marco Sousa Santos is firmly rooted in a generation of Designers who have built a strong international reputation for contemporary Portuguese Design. His projects, collections and experiments have been presented and exhibited in several leading institutions alongside some of the most prestigious Designers in the world. Working from his atelier in Lisbon, he scouts for the best handicraft specialists in Portugal to collaborate and establish dynamic partnerships for his label BRANCA.
